Today is Valentine’s Day, so I wanted to write a little post about LOVE! I’m reflecting on the things I love most: my husband, kids, family, friends and pets. I also “love” going to church, swimming laps, shopping at thrift stores, drinking coffee and going on cruises.
Then I started thinking about WORK, and how fortunate I am to actually LOVE what I do. Even in my free time, I am thinking about MARKETING and how to do things better. Sometimes, I even DREAM about it, and come up with some interesting solutions in my sleep. It is literally ALWAYS on my mind.
Go With All Your Heart to Find Your Purpose
If you already LOVE what you do, please skip to the last section of this post! However, if you are not happy with your work and feel you haven’t found your purpose, perhaps this example will help.
The fact that I LOVE what I do DID NOT happen by accident. I took a lot of time to figure out what I loved (from a work perspective) and honed my skills with training so I would be great at doing it. (I am still learning every single day!) I also work to help the less fortunate through volunteering my services (thus serving the world), and I’ve figured out how to make a livable wage doing it. I’m truly blessed by God for having these abilities, but I’ve also done my part by putting in lots of hard work to honor Him for these gifts.
Whenever I have the opportunity to coach people on life choices, I encourage them to find the intersection of 1) passion, 2) mission, 3) vocation, and 4) profession. The concept is illustrated by my favorite Venn diagram. You will have to “go with all your heart” to find your purpose, meaning you will have to “go all out” to find it. For most people, it’s not easy to get to the intersection of passion, mission, profession and vocation, but it is possible, which makes it worth the effort!
Go With All Your Heart All Year Round
My Valentine’s wish for all of my friends and followers is for you to find your purpose and enjoy as much LOVE as possible in your life. You can love your work, kids, spouse, family, pets, neighbors, friends, church, hobbies, travel, etc. No matter what you love, make sure you love with all your heart, not only in February, but all year round!
